Maison Cunningham is a courageous, purpose‑driven young woman whose life story is defined not by the obstacles she has faced, but by the extraordinary strength with which she has overcome them. A high‑achieving high school senior from Cincinnati, Ohio, Maison is the only known child in the world diagnosed with Necrotizing Autoimmune Myopathy, a rare and life‑threatening condition that tested her body but never her spirit. Her journey has been featured in a published story highlighting her resilience, faith, and unwavering determination to rise.

Rather than allowing her diagnosis to limit her, Maison transformed it into purpose. Her lived experience ignited a passion for science, healing, and advocacy, inspiring her to pursue a future in medicine. She is driven by a vision of becoming a compassionate physician who brings empathy, innovation, and personal understanding to the world of healthcare. Maison’s voice is powerful not only because of what she has endured, but because of the hope, clarity, and purpose she carries forward.

Beyond her academic excellence, Maison is a gifted creator and entrepreneur. As the founder and designer of Maison Knits, she has built a boutique brand specializing in handcrafted knit and crochet pieces, including clothing, accessories, coasters, and home décor. Every item she creates reflects artistry, patience, and intention, mirroring the qualities that define her life.

Maison’s commitment to service and leadership is equally remarkable. She volunteers bi‑weekly at the Oliver Towns Soup Kitchen and at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, she supports infants and toddlers in the nursery. Her summers have included serving as a Junior Counselor at Camp Riverview, where she guided young girls through outdoor adventures, and creative activities.

Her passion for medicine deepened through medical shadowing, where she observed pediatric neurosurgery, post‑operative care, and the delicate communication between physicians and families. These experiences affirmed her calling to pursue a career in healing and research.

Maison is also a vibrant contributor to her school community. She is a member of the Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy Swim Team and serves as a Technical Assistant for the Performing Arts Department. As a public speaker for rare disease awareness, she uses her story to educate, inspire, and empower others.

Through every challenge and triumph, Maison Cunningham stands as a testament to resilience, creativity, and purpose, preparing to bring her strength, brilliance, and voice to the world.
