The Rhythmic Sounds of New Jerusalem proudly celebrates 50 years of powerful ministry, musical excellence, and transformative worship. For five decades, this iconic ensemble has stood as a pillar of gospel music within Cincinnati and beyond, carrying the rich legacy of New Jerusalem Baptist Church with passion, purpose, and an unmistakable anointing.

For the past 19 years, the choir has been led by its dynamic Minister of Music, A. Michael Cunningham. Under his visionary leadership, RSONJ has become one of the most highly requested and respected choirs in the region. Cunningham’s blend of classical technique, contemporary gospel innovation, and spirit‑led direction has elevated the choir’s sound and expanded its artistic reach.

In May 2007, the ensemble officially adopted the name “Rhythmic Sounds of New Jerusalem.” Today, it stands as New Jerusalem Baptist Church’s largest choir, with more than 60 dedicated members who minister faithfully every Sunday during the 11:00 a.m. worship service.

Throughout its history, RSONJ has shared the stage with some of gospel music’s most celebrated artists, including Donnie McClurkin, Fred Hammond, Byron Cage, Marvin Sapp, and Hezekiah Walker, among others. Their excellence has been recognized across the city and the nation — the choir was voted “Best in Cincinnati” in 2010 and selected to perform at the World Choir Games in 2012, representing their church and community on an international platform.

In April 2017, The Rhythmic Sounds of New Jerusalem released their debut CD, “In His Time.” The project received airplay on major radio outlets, including Sirius XM Radio, and garnered seven nominations from both the Rhythm of Gospel Awards and the Kingdom Image Awards. Categories included Praise and Worship CD of the Year, Traditional CD of the Year, Church Choir of the Year, Traditional Choir of the Year, and Contemporary Choir of the Year — a testament to the choir’s artistry, versatility, and spiritual impact.
